Stoked Gets Spammed

Here at Stoked there is a decent amount of spam posts that try to make it onto the site. The filter catches most of them, and I’ve caught the rest so far. Most are mildly annoying, some make direct references to my masculinity and my need to increase its size, but this one I had to share. I’ve excluded the hyperlink so that the spammer doesn’t get any benefit. At least I sure hope that it was a spammer:

Thank you for the amazing post. I hope you had an amazing New Year!!. Hopefully you didn’t have to to where your tactical body armor with all those fools shooting their bullets along busy streets.

I’m new to this whole blogging thing, but I am fairly sure that shooting fools and body armour are largely uncommon in this line of work.

Here’s to a bullet-wound-free 2010!

Merry Christmas!

December 25, 2009 1 comment

From all of us here at stokedonbusiness (me): we wish you and your families a very merry Christmas. 2009 Saw a lot of firsts for Stoked, and a lot to build on in 2010. Stay tuned, because there are a ton of very exciting developments planned. Hint: some may even involve actual non-web based social interaction. Scary, I know.

As a little bonus, I thought I’d don my best seasonally-appropriate attire and post a picture, enjoy!

Capilano Courier Articles

November 11, 2009 2 comments

As of yesterday, we officially have a business section in the Capilano Courier! The editor has a assembled a couple of great writers who will be pumping out relevant and useful articles for the Cap world. In the meantime, I’ve been doing some writing to get it started. I’ll be using the links box (top right corner of this page) as a manual RSS feed of the articles as they get posted. Check it out, the first two are up and waiting to be read!

It’s So Bloggy in Here!

We’re finally doing it! The Capilano Business Society has it’s very own representative in the blogging world, me! As the executive collectively cringes and second guesses this veritable soap-box they’ve given me, I’m going to be tossing rants, ramblings, news you should be stoked about and  myriad of other semi-coherent content for your reading pleasure.

My name is Conner, and I’ll be your blogger for this semester. Here are some of the things that you can expect to find on this page: the inside scoop on events and big-picture planning from the Business Society’s executive, a look at the business world and what it really means to us as students, advance notice about Cap’s business events, answers to your business questions from local experts and anything else worth ranting about.

We’re a university now, which means that we’re kind of a big deal and our Society is going to make sure that everybody knows it. So why am I the E-voice? Why should anyone listen to me? Probably because I yelled the loudest at a meeting one day. Not a good enough reason? I have the unique perspective of a 7th year University student whose after-class job has turned into a senior management role. What that means for you is I’ll be pumping the tires of young up-and-coming students who are bucking trends and blazing new paths while advocating for the traditional corporate structure and how to crush it in the old boys club.

The Capilano Business Society is pumped about giving you all an inside-out view of what we’re doing around campus and in the business world. Teaser – I’m tingling a bit just thinking about all of the rad-ness we have planned for January.

Whether you want to leverage what you’re learning at Cap in order to crush the working world, or be the first to know about the networking events coming up both inside and outside of the Cap community, I want to know about it. Leave a comment. I can’t promise I’ll like it, but I’ll definitely reply. Don’t want to expose your opinions to the world? Hit me with an e-mail at
